Monark

Monark Skate Company builds its identity on defiance. With a (certain) beheaded monarch as their emblem, they wanted an identity that “skated” around the intersection between the exploitation of the lower classes by the elite. This project was about taking that attitude and turning it into a visual identity: something raw, unapologetic, and unmistakably theirs.

Brief

Monark is a skate company based in Belfast with a focus on rejecting authority and doing things their own way. The name and the logo say everything you need to know. A beheaded monarch is not just a symbol it is a statement about where they come from and what they stand for. This project was about capturing that feeling and turning it into something that could live across everything they make and do. It had to feel direct bold and a little unhinged without trying too hard to be anything it’s not.

The design pulls from street textures old protest posters and DIY culture. It avoids anything clean or perfect. The lines are rough the forms are heavy and the message is clear. It needed to look good on a skateboard on a sticker on a t-shirt or sprayed onto a wall. The final system feels flexible but grounded in the same energy that drives the brand forward. It’s not about nostalgia or trends it’s about what feels right right now.
